Bio

Dr. Matthew Burton provides compassionate, patient-centered internal medicine care with a strong passion for serving rural communities. He is committed to improving access to high-quality healthcare close to home and building lasting relationships with his patients.

Originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, Dr. Burton earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington before attending Saint Matthew’s University School of Medicine on Grand Cayman. He completed his residency training through the Carilion-Virginia Tech School of Medicine.

Dr. Burton brings extensive experience in hospital medicine and healthcare leadership, previously serving in hospitalist and Medical Director roles in Lexington, Virginia. He is proud to continue caring for patients throughout the Alleghany Highlands and surrounding communities.

Outside of work, Dr. Burton enjoys spending time outdoors and is an avid hunter, fisherman, cyclist, runner, climber, and hiker.
