Lab Assistant – Full Time

Details:
• Completes routine blood samples and requests assistance as needed
• Processes and distributes specimens in an accurate and timely manner
• Enters laboratory orders accurately
• Demonstrates proper technique in performing venipuncture, capillary puncture, and other specimen collection procedures.
• Performs venipuncture properly

Environment of Care/Life Safety/Emergency Management Manager – Full Time

Details:
• Develops and implements EOC/Life Safety/Emergency Management programs.
• Serves as the subject matter expert in Life Safety Code and Emergency Management standards and associated Joint Commission Life Safety Chapters and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) tags.
• Oversees, in coordination with other team members, all operations associated with life safety, including but not limited to the development, coordination and implementation of mandatory testing frequencies, schedules and documentation.
• Oversees the coordination, planning, and preparation EOC Council meetings, data, presentations and minutes.
• Responds to and attends external Life Safety surveys at hospital buildings to include, but not limited to, Virginia Department of Health (VDH), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC), Fire Marshal/Inspector, insurance carrier, etc.
• Maintains effective liaisons with local outside emergency planning and enforcement agencies (i.e. local Fire Departments, Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), The Joint Commission (TJC), LEPC, etc).

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Fire Safety, Safety, Architecture or related field or licensure as a tradesman (required) or 5 years direct work related experience.
• 5 years commercial building experience (required), 10 years hospital building experience (preferred)
• Certification: CLSS-HC, CHFM is preferred; Certified Healthcare Emergency Coordinator (CHEC) (required within 2 years of hire)

Referral/Transportation Coordinator – Full Time

Details:
• Responsible for coordinating specialty care for patients in need of internal or external consultation as requested by the primary care physician
• Responsible for scheduling, tracking and referral case management for all ambulatory clinics
• Processes patient referrals to specialty providers by preparing medical charts and records for referral patient visits and providing appropriate clinical information to specialist.
• Maintains ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on referrals.
• Ability to prioritize duties, perform them efficiently and adjust to and accept the unexpected.

Requirements:
• Medical Assistant (MA) certification with two years of experience as a MA in a family practice outpatient setting including experience with pediatric and adult patients (preferred)

Details:

  • Decontaminates, assembles, sterilizes, and distributes instruments, supplies, and equipment for patient care.
  • Cleans, cultures, tests, and operates various sterilizers.
  • Responsible for maintaining infection control standards as related to the decontamination and re-processing of equipment and instruments used in patient care throughout the hospital.

Requirements:

Details:

  • Assess patients prior to surgery.
  • Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and in order.
  • Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure.
  • Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure.
  • Assess patients’ post-operative condition. Monitor vital signs.
  • Log all findings in patient files.
  • Answer patient questions and ensure they are kept comfortable.
  • Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the physician.
  • Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies.

Details:
• Greets patient and obtains height, weight, and vital signs, then escorts them to an exam room. Properly prepares the patient for the examination
• Records details of chief complaint, review of systems, past medical history, social history, family medical history, disease risk factors
• Obtains or updates list of medications and allergies including the reaction
• Submits/performs orders as desired under direction/supervision of medical provider
• Tracks the orders for each patient, records results, and notifies provider of results as they arrive within the electronic health record system utilizing tracking system
• If orders are not completed in a timely fashion or if results are incomplete, troubleshoots for causes and solutions
• Ensures that prescriptions are submitted via e-prescribe as instructed by the provider
• Assists in disposition of patient, including healthcare instructions, education materials, and prescription instructions
• Ensures that documentation is complete before chart is closed
• Inventories, orders, and stocks supplies for all exam rooms and offices.

ECHO Technologist-Ultrasound –PRN

Details:

  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
  • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
  • Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
  • Coordinates work schedule with Departmental Director and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage.
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer’s care.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) (required)
  • ECHO certification (required)

  • Responsible for the safe transportation of non-ambulatory patients to and from medical facilities

  • While not transporting patients ALS Provider will work in the Emergency Room.

Coder
Full Time

Accountable for conversion of diagnoses and treatment procedures into codes using an international classification of diseases. Assigns physician and procedures charges as appropriate, utilizing accurate CPT and modifier usage. Ensures that records are coded in a timely and accurate manner.

Details:
• Ensures that records are coded within 48 hours of discharge, excluding weekends and holidays.
• Reviews charts thoroughly to ascertain all diagnoses/procedures.
• Contacts responsible physician in a professional, tactful manner, if diagnosis is not available on chart.
• Meets quality standard of having 100% of correct physician level assignment as supported by provider documentation.
• Refers chart to Director, if there is a question regarding diagnoses/codes.
• Utilizes computerized coding and abstracting equipment.
• Codes all diagnoses/procedures in accordance to ICD-10-CM coding principles.
• Meets quality standards of having 95% of principal diagnoses and procedures appropriately and/or coded.
• Maintains the number of DRG/coding changes below the 3% quarterly per PRO threshold.
• Stays current with changes in coding requirements. Follows coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations.

Requirements:
• Previous health care work preferred.
• Certified Coder from accredited entity required;
• RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.
• Ability to work with physicians in a collaborative manner.

Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst
Full Time

The Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst position is responsible to perform a wide variety of accounting, financial and analytical duties in support of Bath Community Hospital’s accounting and financial operations and the implementation of the Hospital’s strategic goals and initiatives.

Details:

• Works closely with AP and Payroll and is a backup for these functions.
• Reconciles bank accounts monthly and prepares necessary journal entries.
• Maintains a system of internal controls over accounting and reconciles all Balance Sheet Accounts.
• Maintains fixed asset system and keeps an up to date listing of fixed assets at all times.
• Prepares monthly journal entries and completes monthly close for hospital financials as needed
• Prepares monthly/periodic financial statements for review
• Assists in preparing the annual operating and capital budgets
• Assists with cost accounting and reconciliation process
• Coordinates quarterly financial review meetings with management and assists in variance analysis and data analysis as needed
• Coordinates the collection and dissemination of accurate departmental and facility statistics to and from department managers monthly. Ensures accuracy in reporting and use of stats for analytical purposes.
• Prepares budget variance reports to distribute each month to department managers. Assists managers with variance analysis as needed.
• Maintains monthly schedules needed for annual audit and ongoing financial analysis as requested, including monthly productivity analysis.
• Assists in the preparation of the financial package and presentation for the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors’ meetings.
• Reviews and approves all bank deposits prepared by patient accounts office
• Reconciles all balance sheet accounts and prepares necessary journal entries. Resolves all outstanding items identified during the reconciliation process.
• Performs duties in an independent manner, while keeping the Director informed of any critical issues or events.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree with concentration in accounting
• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience for a healthcare organization preferably with Critical Access Hospital experience
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant or MBA designation with a concentration in accounting (preferred)
