BCH Among Nation’s Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals

Bath Community Hospital is one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation, according to data compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

Bath Community Hospital (BCH) is among the top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the country, based on data compiled by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. Only two hospitals in Virginia were selected.

“We are honored to be recognized as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital,” said Bath Community Hospital’s CEO, Jeff Lingerfelt. “This award recognizes the hard work and commitment of our outstanding team. According to the Virginia State Office of Rural Health, there are  1,358 Critical Access Hospitals Nationwide, so this recognition by The Chartis Center is significant. I’m very proud of the work our team does every day to meet challenges and provide our community with exceptional, reliable, and compassionate care.”

In determining its top 100 list, The Chartis Center for Rural Health uses publicly available data to assess and benchmark rural hospital performance based on 36 rural-relevant indicators. The pillars of these indicators include quality, outcomes, patient satisfaction, and costs. The facilities with the highest scores earned a spot on this year’s list.
